Hot Tap

Hot Tap

Onshore/Offshore Hot Tap Services

For onshore and offshore hot tapping capabilities on time and within budget, Cudd offers decades of experience and access to resources for an unparalleled execution.

When conventional pressure relief fails, we can perform a hot tap procedure by drilling a hole in a pipe or tube to gain access to a wellbore if wellhead valves become inoperable.

We are the pioneers of subsea hot tap and valve drilling operations, developing a first-of-its-kind subsea well intervention unit designed to reduce costs and minimize the environmental impact. Our remote-operated tool is rated to work at pressures up to 1,000 psi.

Ultra-Compact Hot Tap Engineered for Rapid Deployment

The only hot tap on the market rated API 6A 3G eases logistics concerns by offering a smaller footprint, yet still delivers the same high-quality performance our customers have come to expect from Cudd. Because of its compact size, the unit can be flown at a moment’s notice on a private aircraft and transported in the bed of a pickup truck to arrive on location for operation when you need it. Hot Tap Technology

Hot Tap technology allows for safe and controlled internal entry into casing, tubing, flanges, bull plugs, valves and other equipment. Hot Tapping should never be considered “routine” and is usually performed when accurate pressures cannot be read on tubing, casing, P/A base plates and/or blind flanges without interruption of service.

To facilitate the following processes determine and verify the existence of any internal pressure. Examples are:
Casing and/or tubing in old well for abandonment purposes
Check for trapped pressure between valves / bull plug
Assessment to possible sustained casing pressure
Safely and effectively allow pressure to be bled off in a controlled manner or
Allow controlled pumping of fluids into the tubing and/or annulus of the well

NEW, ULTRA-COMPACT HOT TAP DELIVERS BIG EFFICIENCY, SLEEK EXECUTION

API 6A-Rated Performance

The next generation of hot tap capabilities is here. The brand-new, ultracompact hot tap unit from Cudd Well Control weighs only 85 lbs, making it ideal for optimized operations when tackling critical well interventions on pressurized tubulars to bleed trapped pressure or gain access to perform remedial work.

As the only hot tap on the market rated API 6A 3G, the new unit may be small, but it performs as well as its oversized counterparts. Its compact design is ideal for tight working areas like small cellars, offshore well bays, and other space-restricted locations.

Features and Benefits
Pressure-balanced design for safe, easy operation
Built for pressures up to 10,000 psi
Designed for H2S environments
Engineered with an 18-in. stroke length
Fast, nearly effortless deployment
Ideal for tight spaces
Environmental friendly hydraulic working fluid
